Suez: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, met with Suez Governor Tarek Hamed El-Shazly to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in various fields. During the meeting, which marked the beginning of Badawi's visit to Suez, he emphasized the governorate's critical role in the ministry's strategy, which aims to maximize benefits from oil refining and petrochemical facilities and infrastructure.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Badawi stated that his visit to Suez is intended to support refining companies and their workforce, providing essential backing to maintain progress and achieve the ministry's ambitious medium-term vision. This vision targets 100% operational efficiency at refineries, optimizing available capacities to positively impact both the national economy and the governorate. He further highlighted the importance of adhering to safety and environmental protection standards as fundamental aspects of the ministry's strategy.
Badawi also pointed out that the petroleum sector has contributed nearly EGP 30 million over the past two years to community engagement projects in Suez. He expressed the ministry's desire for full coordination with the governorate through the High Committee for Corporate Social Responsibility in the petroleum sector. This coordination aims to direct contributions toward the governorate's priorities to ensure maximum benefit for Suez citizens.
Governor El-Shazly underscored the significance of utilizing the "Suez-Germany Welding Center" to organize training courses in collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum to qualify technical cadres. He also acknowledged the vital role of state-affiliated petroleum product marketing companies in the fuel station network. The governor expressed readiness to collaborate with Misr Petroleum, Cooperation Petroleum, and Wataniya to establish modern stations in Suez, supported by a range of branded service centers.
