Egypt Reviews Progress of Energy Efficiency Initiative with Schneider Electric

Cairo: Egypt's Electricity Minister Mahmoud Esmat met with Schneider Electric's regional president, Sebastien Riez, to review progress on an industrial energy efficiency initiative. The meeting aimed to address energy efficiency improvements, reduce electricity waste, and enhance performance across power distribution networks. A model for conducting energy audits in factories was presented, with the goal of extending the program across various industrial sectors.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the plan encompasses 25 factories within industries such as cement, aluminium, textiles, glass, liquefied natural gas, food and beverages, electrical equipment, and agricultural products. To date, audits have been completed in 13 plants, with the remaining audits scheduled for completion by the end of September.

Minister Esmat also discussed collaboration on training engineers from the ministry and the Electricity Holding Company in audit procedures to ensure sustainability through capacity-building initiatives. He emphasized the need for accelerating the initiative's rollout to align with global energy management standards while employing technology to optimize load distribution.

The Minister highlighted Egypt's commitment to working with partners to raise awareness about energy efficiency, reduce electricity losses, stabilize the national grid, expand renewable energy sources, decrease fuel consumption, and enhance operational efficiency.
