Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli of Egypt and his Tunisian counterpart Sarra Zaafrani presided over the signing of eight significant cooperation documents on Thursday, 11th September 2025. The signing ceremony was held after the conclusion of the 18th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Higher Committee at the cabinet headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. These agreements are set to enhance bilateral collaboration across a variety of sectors between the two nations.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the cooperation documents encompass several critical areas of mutual interest. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering cooperation in health and medical sciences was signed by Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Tunisia's Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Abdelhafidh. Further agreements were reached in the youth and sports sectors, with two executive programs planned for 2026-2027. These were signed by Egypt's Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi and Tunisia's Minister of Trade and Export Development Samir Obeid.
The two countries also agreed on an MoU for export development, signed by Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan el Khatib and his Tunisian counterpart Samir Obeid. Additionally, an executive program for cooperation in social affairs was formalized by Egypt's Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy and Tunisia's Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Abdelhafidh.
In the realm of enterprise development, both sides signed an MoU addressing the growth of small, medium, and micro enterprises (MSMEs). This agreement was endorsed by Basel Rahmi, CEO of Egypt's MSME Development Agency, and Tunisia's Ambassador in Cairo Mohamed Ben Youssef. Consumer protection and market surveillance were also addressed through an executive program signed by Ibrahim el Sigini, Head of Egypt's Consumer Protection Agency, and a Tunisian diplomat.
Moreover, a separate MoU was signed to promote diplomatic studies and exchange, involving the Egyptian Diplomatic Studies Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Egyptian Expatriates and the Tunisian International Diplomatic Academy. This was facilitated by Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Ambassador Ihab Fahmy and the Tunisian ambassador.
