Cairo: The Ministry of Antiquities in Egypt announced the successful recovery of approximately 30,000 antiquities that had been taken abroad. This significant achievement highlights the ongoing efforts by Egyptian authorities to reclaim artifacts of their rich cultural heritage.According to State Information Service Egypt, these efforts include the recovery of 13 specific antiquities from the United Kingdom and Germany. This success was attributed to the collaborative work between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Interpol, and international auction houses. These antiquities had been illegally transported to these countries, prompting Egyptian authorities to take necessary legal actions to ensure their return.Dr. Khaled Saad, Director of the Department of Prehistoric Antiquities at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, emphasized the vigilance of the Department of Repatriated Antiquities. He explained that the department actively monitors auction houses worldwide. When Egyptian artifacts are identified, the ministry intervenes legally to halt sales and verify the artifacts' origins before dispatching a representative to retrieve them. The process of repatriation involves close coordination with international authorities and auction houses. Legal cases are initiated through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pausing any transactions until the artifacts' authenticity and ownership are confirmed. This meticulous approach ensures that Egyptian antiquities are safely returned to the country, preserving Egypt's cultural and historical legacy.
