Egypt Pushes Skills-Based Education at EduTech 2026

Egypt: Egypt's Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel-Latif attended on Monday the launch of the fifth edition of 'EduTech 2026'.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the three-day event is being held under the theme 'From Dialogue to Implementation: Building an Ecosystem for Artificial Intelligence, Skills, and Global Mobility.' In his opening remarks, Abdel-Latif emphasized the necessity of preparing students for future employment opportunities. He noted that education systems must swiftly adapt to the rapid changes in technology and the evolving demands of the labor market.

Abdel-Latif highlighted that the world is experiencing significant transformations, necessitating a more flexible education system that is closely tied to economic needs. He stressed that technical and vocational education should be considered a strategic priority rather than an alternative route. Under Egypt's Vision 2030, the focus is on enhancing both the quality of education and its alignment with job market requirements.

The minister added that the ministry is working to expand applied technology schools through partnerships with the industrial sector to offer practical, job-oriented education. Efforts are also being made to incorporate essential future skills such as digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving into the curriculum. Additionally, there is a push to strengthen international partnerships to boost the competitiveness of graduates.

Ali Shams, Head of the conference organizing committee, stated that the forum signifies a transition from discussing ideas to implementing practical solutions. The event aims to fortify the connections between education and the labor market, improve the perception of technical education, and support national development goals.
