Egypt and US Explore Strengthening Economic and Investment Ties


Cairo: Egypt’s Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Moataz Zahran, hosted a joint Egyptian-US working session aimed at bolstering economic and investment relations between Egypt and the United States. The session focused on enhancing consultation and coordination with key US institutions to support this objective.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting explored ways to enhance cooperation with the US Export-Import Bank and the Development Finance Corporation (DFC). These institutions play a crucial role in supporting investments, facilitating financing tools, and encouraging private sector participation in development projects.



The discussions also included exchanging views on how to expand the longstanding strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States. Both sides expressed interest in exploring broader areas that would serve their mutual interests.



The Egyptian delegation highlighted the economic and financial measures taken by the state to mitigate the adverse effects of ongoing geostrategic instability in the Middle East. These measures aim to address the negative repercussions affecting economies worldwide.



Additionally, Egypt outlined the steps being implemented to improve the investment climate and facilitate the business environment. Emphasis was placed on enhancing the role of the private sector in economic activities, with a view to attracting more high-quality American investments aligned with Egypt’s economic development priorities.



Participants underscored the importance of continued coordination between Egypt and the United States to explore new areas of cooperation with both EXIM and DFC. This collaboration is intended to support the implementation of priority projects across various timelines, thereby strengthening the Egyptian economy’s capacity to leverage available financing and development tools.



The session underscored the commitment of both sides to intensifying constructive communication with American financing and development institutions. This effort aims to support Egypt’s development goals and open new avenues for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
