Cabinet Refutes Fake Energy Consumption Document Circulation

Cairo: The Cabinet’s Media Center has firmly denied the authenticity of a document that has been circulating online, which falsely claims to include new government instructions on energy consumption rationalization. The center clarified that the document is fabricated and baseless, and it was wrongly attributed to the Cabinet.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the bogus document purportedly announced a prime ministerial decision that proposed an energy-saving plan involving nationwide daily electricity load reductions for three to four hours, alongside a mandate for shops to close at 10 p.m. However, the Cabinet’s Media Center has emphasized that no such decisions or instructions have been issued by the Cabinet or any government entity. The existing energy-saving policies remain unchanged.

The center also highlighted that the circulated claims are intended to mislead citizens and cause confusion. It urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information on social media and to rely solely on official sources for accurate updates.
