Awqaf Minister Advocates for Collaborative Training at Philippine Supreme Court

Manila: Minister of Awqaf Osama al Azhari affirmed that cooperation in training and qualification fields can be implemented through a structured scientific and phased approach to be mutually agreed upon. This would enable the design of tailored training programs with varying timelines, depending on the required level of qualification and the nature of the issues to be addressed, he added.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this declaration came during the minister's visit to the Supreme Court of the Philippines, where he was received by Chief Justice Alexander Gahon G. Gesmundo. The minister reviewed the academic and training role of the International Awqaf Academy in preparing and qualifying imams and preachers according to a moderate and enlightened approach.

He highlighted the contribution of a training program, which was organized by the ministry in January 2026 for a delegation of 15 Filipino judges, imams, and lawyers. The program focused on 'promoting the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence,' noting that it represented a successful model of transferring Egypt's expertise in this field.

For his part, the Chief Justice expressed his appreciation for the depth of Egyptian-Philippine relations and thanked the ministry for its commitment to enhancing cooperation, particularly in training and capacity-building.
