Dabaa: The Egyptian National Railways (ENR) has announced the resumption of operations on the Matrouh-Alexandria train line, following a temporary suspension caused by a derailment incident in the Mediterranean city of Dabaa. The accident resulted in the deaths of three passengers and injuries to 94 others.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the incident occurred around 3:30 PM on Saturday, when several cars of a passenger train traveling from Matrouh to Cairo derailed. ENR reported that two of the train cars overturned as a result of the derailment.
The Egyptian National Railways Authority expressed its appreciation for the efforts of engineers, technicians, and workers who worked diligently to restore service on the line. The Authority also extended its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
Additionally, the Authority apologized to passengers for any delays or disruptions caused during the suspension of train traffic on the Matrouh-Alexandria route.
