Sisi Stresses Coordination for Grand Egyptian Museum’s Opening to Reflect Egypt’s Cultural Leadership

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between the relevant authorities to ensure that the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is organized in a manner befitting Egypt's position, reflecting its leadership in the field of museums and global culture, and contributing to the promotion of tourism in the country. President Sisi also noted that the celebration will not only reflect the grandeur of this global edifice but also highlight the level of achievement and progress Egypt is witnessing in various fields, in a manner that aligns with the country's cultural position on the world stage.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this statement came during a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi, and Mohamed el Saadi, the board member of the United Media Services Company and the General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum's opening ceremony. The meeting also discussed the status of ongoing projects to develop the area surrounding the museum, as part of the preparations for the opening.

Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed el Shennawy reported that during the meeting, President Sisi followed up on the preparations for the grand event scheduled to take place on the opening day of the museum on November 1. The Minister of Tourism reviewed preparations being coordinated between various ministries and relevant bodies, covering logistical aspects, proposed activities of the event, and related organizational arrangements.

The spokesperson further stated that the meeting reviewed various issues related to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, with President El-Sisi briefed on the latest developments in plans to enhance the tourism sector.
