Sisi: GEM Reflects Journey of a Generous, Civilization-Building People

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed that the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) serves as a three-dimensional representation of the journey of a generous, civilization-building people who create glory and take pride in their homeland.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum, President Sisi emphasized Egypt's historical significance as the first nation to lay the groundwork for civilization, where the world witnessed the birth of art, thought, writing, and faith. He warmly welcomed esteemed guests to Egypt, the oldest state known in history, highlighting its role in tracing the first letters of civilization.

President Sisi remarked that ancient Egypt has been a source of inspiration for peoples worldwide, with wisdom emanating from the banks of the Nile to illuminate the path of civilization and human progress. He declared that the edifices of civilization are constructed in times of peace and are spread through cooperation among nations.

In light of the GEM's opening, President Sisi stated that Egypt is writing a new chapter in the history of both the present and future of this ancient nation. He emphasized that GEM is the largest museum globally dedicated to a single civilization, showcasing Egypt's enduring civilization. He noted that the museum is not merely a repository for antiquities but a testament to the genius of the Egyptian people who constructed the Pyramids and inscribed stories of eternity on their walls.

Sisi highlighted that this achievement tells the story of a homeland deeply rooted in human history, with ongoing contributions to humanity. He acknowledged the extensive international cooperation involved in the project, particularly the support from Japan, and expressed appreciation for the efforts of Egyptian citizens, including officials, engineers, researchers, archaeologists, technicians, and workers.

President Sisi reiterated that the GEM symbolizes the journey of a civilization-building people and emphasized Egypt's role as an oasis of stability and a patron of human heritage. He concluded by inviting guests to enjoy the celebration and envision the museum as a platform for dialogue, a destination for knowledge, and a beacon for those who cherish life and humanity.
