Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised the participation of Queen Mary of Denmark in the historic opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). This came during his meeting on Saturday with Denmark's Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars L¸kke Rasmussen.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty commended the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries, particularly noting President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Denmark last December, which elevated bilateral relations to a strategic partnership. He emphasized the necessity of implementing the partnership agreement's provisions, focusing on ongoing coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest, and launching the Egyptian-Danish Business Council to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
Abdelatty also acknowledged the existing cooperation in migration, stressing the importance of fortifying its developmental aspect and expanding legal migration pathways for Egypt's skilled and technical workforce. He underscored the need to follow up on the Egypt-EU Summit outcomes held in Brussels on October 22, especially regarding economic events, and reviewed Egypt's investment incentives for European partners.
He articulated Egypt's aspiration for the summit to expand the Egypt-EU strategic partnership and attract more European investments into the Egyptian market, highlighting the importance of boosting bilateral trade volumes and increasing Egyptian exports to Denmark. Abdelatty lauded the contribution of Danish companies to Egypt's economic development and called for expanded investments.
The minister further discussed preparations for Egypt's hosting of the International Conference on Gaza Reconstruction later this month, expressing hope for robust European and Danish participation. Both sides exchanged views on regional and international concerns, including maritime security in the Red Sea, and situations in Libya, Sudan, Syria, the Horn of Africa, and the Sahel region, in addition to Egypt's water security.
