Zhejiang: A delegation from the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), led by Chairman Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, visited Zhejiang province in China as part of their ongoing tour on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. The visit aims to promote investment in targeted sectors including the automotive industry and green energy, with a focus on localizing these industries to boost Egyptian exports.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the SCZONE delegation commenced the day by visiting the headquarters of KIBING Group in Ninghai. KIBING, a global leader in glass manufacturing, is set to collaborate with SCZONE to build the largest solar panel glass factory in the Sokhna Integrated Zone. The 800,000 m² facility will require an investment of $685 million and is expected to generate 3,000 direct jobs. With plans to export 80% of its production primarily to European and American markets, the factory will utilize local silica sand and significantly contribute to localizing green energy products.
Following the visit to KIBING, the delegation traveled to Ningbo for a tour of Lynk and Co factory, part of the Zhejiang Geely Holding company. The tour aligns with SCZONE's vision to foster the automotive industry by understanding modern car manufacturing technologies and investment needs such as energy, utilities, space, and labor.
The day concluded with a roundtable discussion organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Ningbo Municipal Government. Key participants included major Chinese auto parts manufacturers like Joyson, Minth Group, Tuopu Group, Jifeng Ltd, Ruitai, and Wuhan Automotive Industry.
