President El-Sisi Engages in Strategic Dialogue with German Chancellor

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that the call focused on Egypt's recent initiatives, in collaboration with relevant entities, to bring an end to the conflict in Gaza.

According to State Information Service Egypt, President El-Sisi detailed the agreement reached on October 8th in Sharm El-Sheikh and outlined Egypt's proposals for the next steps and the mechanisms for implementing the agreement, based on the plan introduced by US President Donald Trump. The President stressed the necessity of maintaining the role and status of the Palestinian Authority and fostering conditions favorable for establishing a Palestinian state in line with international legitimacy. He invited the German Chancellor to participate in the celebration Egypt will host, commemorating the signing of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

The German Chancellor conveyed his nation's appreciation for Egypt's pivotal role in securing the ceasefire agreement and confirmed Germany's support for it, expressing hope that it will serve as a precursor to achieving enduring peace in the region. He also expressed anticipation for Egypt to host the Gaza reconstruction conference.

The conversation also covered the broader relations between Egypt and Germany, as well as Egypt's ties with the European Union. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Germany across various sectors.
