PM Opens China Hengsheng Textile with $70 Million Investments

Qantara west: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli inaugurated the Chinese Hengsheng Textile technology factory in Qantara West Industrial Zone, marking a significant investment of $70 million. During his tour, which included the inauguration and inspection of various projects in the industrial zone, the premier emphasized that this major industrial development underscores the confidence of leading international companies in the national economy.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Prime Minister highlighted the state's success in fostering an attractive investment climate, supported by integrated infrastructure and utilities. The Hengsheng project is seen as pivotal in establishing Qantara West as a key regional hub for textile industries. It aligns with the state's plans to localize manufacturing, enhance added value, and broaden the production and export scope.

Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), remarked that Hengsheng's investment represents a strategic step towards localizing industries and enhancing value within the textile sector. This project bolsters local supply chains and reflects the authority's continuous efforts to draw significant investments in strategic industrial sectors.

Gamal El-Din also noted that the contract for the Hengsheng project was signed in October 2023, with the foundation stone laid in July 2024. The opening of the factory signifies the rapid progress in executing major industrial projects within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

The Chairman of the Board of the Chinese company explained that the Hengsheng project focuses on textile printing, dyeing, and finishing. It spans 200,000 square meters with an investment of $70 million, creating approximately 1,300 direct job opportunities. The first phase, covering 100,000 square meters, has been completed, while the second phase is underway and expected to be operational by the end of 2026.

During his factory tour, the Prime Minister was apprised of the operational mechanisms, including combing, shearing, heat-setting, and dyeing processes. Conversations with workers revealed that they receive numerous benefits, with factory management providing essential services to enhance the working environment.
