PM Inspects Project on Enhancing Visual Appeal in Khedival Cairo

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has stressed that the ongoing efforts to revive the "Khedival Cairo" and "Downtown Cairo" areas aim to preserve their unique architectural and urban character, without altering their historical identity. He underscored the importance of closely monitoring these projects, given that these areas represent a vital part of Egypt's national heritage.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the premier's remarks came on Saturday during an inspection tour of a project aimed at enhancing the visual appeal of Khedival Cairo, as part of broader visits to projects in historic Cairo. Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny, stated that the Khedivial Cairo revival project aims to restore the architectural and heritage character of central Cairo, remove visual distortions and encroachments, and standardize storefront signage.

Cairo Governor, Ibrahim Saber, emphasized that the Khedival Cairo project is a national initiative strongly supported by the political leadership with a view to reviving Downtown Cairo as an architectural masterpiece and open-air heritage museum. He explained that historic buildings will be repurposed, reinforcing Cairo's status as a capital of culture, art, and tourism.

The governor added that Cairo's executive bodies are committed to supporting the completion of all works to revive Cairo's historic and aesthetic character, restore its cultural legacy, enhance its touristic appeal, and reshape the area as a cultural and tourist hub.
