PM: Gov’t Targets Major Export Growth With New Strategy

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said that the government is greatly working to grow Egypt's exports, with a structured plan in place. He confirmed that allocations for the export rebate program have been doubled this year to encourage investors to expand their export volumes.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during a meeting with export council heads, Madbouly said the new rebate program was developed in consultation with exporters and is now active. He also reviewed steps taken to streamline customs procedures and introduce new incentives to support exporters.

For his part, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk reported that a sum of EGP 19.3 billion has already been paid to exporters over FY 2024-2026, with EGP 3 billion currently being processed. He outlined plans to clear overdue payments.

Meanwhile, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan el Khatib reviewed ongoing measures to support trade, including faster customs clearance and digital documentation. He welcomed feedback from exporters to help refine policies and reach export targets.

Export council leaders said exports have seen a clear improvement in recent months. They presented suggestions to support further growth and discussed remaining challenges.

Finally, Madbouli requested regular follow-up reports on the program's implementation and stressed that export expansion is essential to Egypt's economic strategy.
