Cairo: The "Layalina in El Alamein" festival wrapped up in the New Alamein City in Egypt's North Coast with an exceptional artistic evening, marking the end of a series of cultural events organized by the Ministry of Culture.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the festival, which was held under the patronage of Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Hanno and Minister of Housing, Public Utilities and Urban Communities Sherif Ismail and the supervision of the New Alamein City Authority, featured a variety of cultural and artistic performances.
Hanno expressed gratitude to the performers, participants, and organizers, appreciating their efforts in making the festival a success. He also thanked the ministry of housing and the New Alamein City Authority for their fruitful collaboration in ensuring a smooth and safe event. The minister emphasized that the festival aligns with Egypt's strategy to make culture and the arts central to new urban communities, while continuing to promote fine arts and preserve national identity.
On the city's scenic promenade, the General Authority for Culture Palaces presented a diverse lineup, starting with the popular folk dance performances from the Alexandria-based Anfushi Folkloric Troupe, followed by a captivating Tanoura dance show. The celebration continued with the "Dahya" dance from the North Sinai-based Al-Arish Folkloric Troupe.
On the Roman Theater stage, the "Zat and the Red Hood" puppet show was a highlight, produced by the Cairo Puppet Theater. The play, with a cast of celebrated Egyptian voices, addressed children's relationships with technology and social media through a modern take on the classic fairy tale.
The event continued with more folk performances, including traditional Sinai dances like "Regal Sinai" and "Al-Mahbash," and concluded with an energetic display from the Children and Youth Folkloric Troupe of Anfushi. The troupe performed a variety of joyful routines, including traditional dances from Alexandria, Upper Egypt, and Nubia, which were enthusiastically received by the crowd.
The festival was organized by the Central Administration for Art Affairs, led by artist Ahmed El Shafey, in coordination with the West and Middle Delta Cultural Region.
