Egypt’s Dietary Supplement Industry Poised for Global Expansion, Eyes $1 Bln in Exports by 2030

Cairo: Egypt's dietary supplement industry is rapidly growing, with over 4,000 companies and more than 12,000 products manufactured in 41 factories approved by the National Food Safety Authority.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Mohamed Anwar, head of the Egyptian Association of Supplement Producers and Exporters, said the sector has become a key driver of economic growth, benefiting industries like packaging, logistics, and raw materials.

He highlighted that the industry's expansion-from just seven factories and nearly 1,000 products in 2021-reflects the sector's growing attractiveness for both domestic and international investment. This growth positions Egypt as a potential regional hub for the industry, he said.

The Egyptian supplement sector is set to make a global mark with its participation in Pharmaconex 2025, a key pharmaceutical manufacturing expo in Egypt, according to him. The event will feature a dedicated space for dietary supplements, aiming to open new export markets, especially in Africa and the Arab world.

The association is targeting $1 billion in supplement exports by 2030, with plans to streamline product registration and connect Egyptian companies to international buyers, particularly in Africa and the Arab world, Anwar added.
