Germany Commits to Supporting Educational Infrastructure in Syria

Damascus: Germany's charg© d'affaires in Damascus, Clemens Hach, reiterated his country's commitment to supporting a safe educational environment across Syria.

According to Syrian Arab News Agency, in a post on X marking International Literacy Day, Hach noted that over the past years, 40% of Syria's more than 19,000 schools have been damaged, leaving more than 2.4 million children out of school.

He highlighted that efforts by UNICEF, in cooperation with the UN program in Syria and Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, have enabled the rehabilitation of 139 schools, teacher training, and direct support to more than 50,000 students since 2016.

Germany remains one of the donor countries working to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people by providing humanitarian and financial support, contributing to reconstruction, and strengthening community resilience amid ongoing challenges.
