He stressed that the war could either be resolved or continue with dire consequences. The ceasefire proposal offers a chance for both Israelis and Palestinians to benef it-guaranteeing the return of hostages for Israel and ensuring the delivery of urgent aid for Palestinians. Abdelatty noted that Hamas has accepted the proposal, placing the decision squarely with Israel.Abdelatty highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian assistance, recounting his visit to the Rafah crossing where he witnessed firsthand the delays in aid delivery due to Israel's control of the Palestinian side. He stated that despite the Rafah crossing being open from the Egyptian side, Israel's occupation has hindered aid flow, contributing to a man-made famine as confirmed by the United Nations.Egypt has played a significant role in providing relief, delivering over 70% of total humanitarian aid to Gaza since the conflict began. This effort, involving approximately 550,000 tons of food and medical supplies, has been supported by over 35,000 Egyptian volunteers. Additionally, Egypt has treated thousands of injured Palestinians in its hospitals. The Egyptian government is also planning an internation al conference to address Gaza's recovery and reconstruction post-ceasefire, based on a plan endorsed by the Arab Summit. This initiative aims to rebuild Gaza and ensure Palestinians remain in their homeland.Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's dual-track approach of mediating for a ceasefire and ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian aid delivery. He called for decisive action from all parties involved, stressing the need for vision, courage, and commitment to end the cycle of violence. He acknowledged the role of former US President Donald Trump in advancing peace efforts globally, including his involvement in the initial ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. Abdelatty expressed hope that similar leadership and diplomacy could transform the current tragedy in Gaza into an opportunity for peace and reconciliation.
