Foreign Ministry Marks 80th Anniversary of UN Charter

Cairo: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs celebrated the 80th anniversary of the United Nations Charter's entry into force in 1945.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Egypt reaffirmed its full support for the United Nations, its specialized agencies, and multilateral efforts on this occasion. The country emphasized the importance of upholding the UN Charter and its principles, which aim to achieve international peace, security, and sustainable development.

Egypt highlighted the significance of maintaining and enhancing the effectiveness of multilateral action as a key pillar in building stable international relations based on respect for international law and a rules-based global order. The nation continues its efforts to promote regional and international peace and security, advocating for a foreign policy rooted in UN principles such as respect for international law, peaceful dispute resolution, non-interference in the internal affairs of states, and increased multilateral cooperation to address common challenges.

As a founding member of the UN, Egypt has played a pivotal role in supporting the organization and its principles, becoming a major contributor and active partner in international multilateral action. The country has become a central hub for the UN in the region, hosting 38 UN offices with more than 2,300 staff.

Egypt ranks as one of the largest contributors to peacekeeping forces, placing 7th globally in the number of military experts and 13th in the number of uniformed personnel participating in UN missions. The current number of Egyptian personnel stands at 1,199, including 102 women, representing approximately 10% of the total Egyptian participants, demonstrating Egypt's commitment to supporting peacekeeping efforts.
