Foreign Minister Advocates Diplomacy as Sole Path to Security and Stability

New delhi: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty emphasized that diplomatic solutions and peaceful settlements are the only path toward achieving security and stability during his speech at the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi, India. The meeting aimed to enhance coordination among member states on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty expressed Egypt's intention to strengthen economic cooperation among BRICS countries, support the New Development Bank, and advance joint projects in energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, and advanced technology sectors. Additionally, he presented Egypt's proposals within the BRICS framework, such as establishing a grain logistics hub in East Port Said to bolster food security and facilitate industrial, trade, and investment cooperation among member states.

The Foreign Minister also addressed priority issues on the multilateral agenda, including the reform of the global economic system and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Abdelatty voiced Egypt's support for the 'Ezulwini Consensus' and the 'Sirte Declaration,' advocating for a unified African stance to address the historic injustice in Africa's representation within the UNSC.

Abdelatty highlighted the challenges facing the international system and the global economy, noting that developing countries bear the brunt of current crises. He discussed the situation in the Middle East, emphasizing Egypt's efforts to contain tensions and de-escalate conflicts, supporting the Gulf Arab states' security, and rejecting attacks on their sovereignty.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, Abdelatty condemned Israeli practices in occupied Palestinian territories and stressed the importance of ensuring the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. This, he noted, is essential for alleviating humanitarian suffering and paving the way for a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian cause.
