Cairo: Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, received a call from US Senator Chris Van Hollen, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Appropriations Committees, to discuss bilateral relations and the situation in Gaza. During the talks, the minister highlighted Egypt's significant role in maintaining stability in the Middle East and Africa. He called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid, and the opening of all crossings. He described the starvation of civilians as a deliberate policy that must stop.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the top diplomat also reiterated the need for a political path to a fair settlement, enabling Palestinians to establish an independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. For his part, Van Hollen praised Egypt's mediation efforts to reach a Gaza ceasefire and to alleviate humanitarian suffering, expressing his readiness for continued coordination with the Egyptian side.
