FM Condemns Israel’s Killings, Use of Starvation in Gaza

New york: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed the need for an immediate halt to military operations in Gaza and unimpeded access to humanitarian aid for those in need in the war-ravaged enclave. He also reiterated categorical rejection of any ideas that might lead to displacement, condemning Israel's practices of killing, starvation, as well as its attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting on Saturday 27/9/2025 with his German counterpart Johann Wadephul on the margins of the 80th session of the General Assembly (UNGA 80) in New York. Emphasizing Palestinian peoples' right to remain on their land and establish their state in accordance with relevant international resolutions, which would bring stability to the region, Abdelatty expressed his hope that Germany and the EU would mount pressure on Israel to stop its brutal aggression and comply with international law and international humanitarian law.

The two ministers shared views and assessments on some regional issues of mutual concern, foremost among them the Palestinian issue. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's rejection of Israel's ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip and Israeli violations in the West Bank, warning about their catastrophic repercussions.

As for bilateral relations, Abdelatty underlined the importance of intensifying efforts to boost economic and trade cooperation and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Egyptian market. He expressed an interest in luring more German investments, especially those related to industry localization. He said he is looking forward to holding the upcoming meeting of the joint economic committee soon.

Highlighting the importance of labor migration and vocational training cooperation, which offers a good opportunity for mutual benefit, Abdelatty welcomed the recent signing of some memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with the German state of Bavaria to enhance cooperation on that score. Abdelatty said he is also looking forward to Germany's active participation in the 5th edition of the Aswan Forum for Peace and Sustainable Development next month.

He also expressed hopes for greater cooperation in Africa through the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding (CCCPA), which holds many workshops and training programs for African cadres.
