Electronic Voting in Clubs Affirms Commitment to Boosting Governance

Cairo: Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Rania al Mashat announced that the application of an electronic voting mechanism in sports club elections demonstrates the state's dedication to enhancing transparency and governance, as well as adopting the best international practices in modern management. "The move contributes to cementing the principles of effective participation and data-driven decision-making," Mashat stated. She emphasized that the introduction of e-voting aligns with the state's objectives to advance digital transformation and develop more efficient institutions.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Mashat made these remarks during a meeting with Ashraf Sobhy, the Minister of Youth and Sports, and Counselor Mohamed Khalil el Shennawy, the Head of the Administrative Prosecution Authority. The meeting addressed the progress of the electronic voting system, which was initially trialed by the prosecution authority and later expanded to youth centers and clubs associated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. El Zohour Sporting Club became the first club in Egypt to implement the system.

During the meeting, Sobhy highlighted that the digital transformation agenda within the sports sector holds top priority for political leadership. He noted that implementing e-voting in club elections marks a crucial step toward enhancing integrity and transparency while simplifying procedures for members, in line with the state's strategy for digital transformation and service development for citizens.
