Moscow: Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat was awarded the Medal of Excellence by the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (ROSATOM) for his contributions to enhancing international cooperation in the nuclear energy sector.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Esmat participated as a speaker in a round-table discussion on the evolution of atomic energy from a technological system to a new global vision. The discussion was chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin and attended by several heads of state, prime ministers, and ministers participating in the high-level nuclear summit.
During the plenary session, Esmat highlighted the significance of Egypt's decision to enter the realm of nuclear technology for electricity generation. This decision aligns with the Egyptian nuclear program for the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
Additionally, a ceremony took place on the sidelines of the event to mark the transfer of the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) for the first nuclear unit from the port of St. Petersburg to the site of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant.
