Egypt’s Women’s Health Initiative Reaches Milestone of 70 Million Women Screened

Cairo: The Egyptian Presidential Initiative for Supporting Egyptian Women's Health has successfully examined 70 million women for early tumor detection, offering comprehensive screening and awareness services. Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, confirmed the milestone achievement.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the importance of early breast cancer detection, which reduces the financial burden on patients and the state by providing free treatment protocols that align with the latest international standards. He encouraged women to undergo regular health check-ups to maintain their well-being.

The initiative boasts extensive reach and clinical capacity, having examined 70 million women for early tumor detection and general health awareness. Additionally, one million women have received advanced examinations at specialized hospitals. Services are available free of charge at 3,663 healthcare units and 102 hospitals nationwide for advanced screenings. The initiative targets women aged 18 and above, covering non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure, BMI, reproductive health, and risk factor awareness.

The Ministry utilizes the latest diagnostic and treatment protocols across 14 Ministry centers and 14 university hospital centers, with the aim of transforming these sites into advanced research references for oncology. This effort aligns with the political leadership's vision to enhance public health.

Hatem Amin, Executive Director of the Initiative, provided detailed clinical outcomes, noting that 35,390 cases of breast cancer have been registered. Additionally, 429,388 mammograms have been performed, and 54,207 tumor samples have been collected for analysis. Confirmed cases receive free treatment through health insurance or state expense.

The program also deployed mobile units to examine 149,817 women and conduct 59,634 mobile x-rays. Furthermore, the initiative has trained 30,098 medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, and technicians, and has responded to 30,215 inquiries via the hotline numbers 15335 and 105.
