Egypt’s SCZONE Seeks Singapore’s Investment Amid Presidential Visit

Cairo: Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam toured Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) on Monday, September 22nd, 2025, to discuss potential investments and avenues for cooperation, the Egyptian Cabinet said in a statement.

According to State Information Service Egypt, SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien highlighted the zone's strategic importance as a gateway for global trade. He emphasized its robust infrastructure, which includes four industrial areas, six ports, and an integrated logistics and industrial framework. Gamal El-Dien pointed out that investments from over 20 countries are already operational within SCZONE, showcasing international trust in the zone's potential.

Further, Gamal El-Dien extended an invitation to Singapore to establish a specialized industrial zone within SCZONE. He encouraged exploring opportunities in sectors such as port development, ship services, fuel supply, and green energy projects, aiming to strengthen bilateral economic ties.

During his visit, President Shanmugaratnam was presented with development plans for Ain Sokhna Port through a detailed scale model at SCZONE headquarters. He also toured the port to observe the ongoing upgrades, underscoring the collaborative spirit of the visit.
