Egypt, Latvia FMs Discuss Ceasefire Proposal and Humanitarian Aid Access

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation with his Latvian counterpart Baiba Bra‚¬¦¾e to discuss the situation in Gaza and bilateral cooperation. Abdelatty called for concrete European steps to push Israel toward accepting the current ceasefire proposal.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty warned of the worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza, where over two million people face severe shortages of food and aid. He also urged action to stop the expansion of military operations and the use of starvation as a method of war.

For her part, Bra‚¬¦¾e shared details of the informal EU foreign ministers' meeting taking place in Denmark. Abdelatty outlined Egypt's continued efforts to end the conflict and secure full humanitarian access.

The two ministers also discussed ways to strengthen economic ties, digital cooperation, and boosting investments. Both agreed to maintain coordination on regional and international security challenges.
