Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee Urges U.S. to Reconsider Visa Denial to Palestinian Delegation for UNGA

New york: The Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Gaza has expressed its deep regret over the United States Department of State's decision to deny entry visas to the Palestinian delegation set to participate in the eightieth session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Committee has urged the U.S. Administration to revisit and reverse the decision, stressing the importance of adhering to the United Nations Headquarters Agreement. The Committee emphasized the need to facilitate dialogue and diplomacy, building on the positive positions of the Palestinian National Authority, which remains committed to peace as a strategic choice.

The Committee also highlighted the necessity of supporting the Palestinian National Authority and President Mahmoud Abbas in advancing governmental reforms. It noted that Abbas has reiterated commitments to global leaders in promoting peace and combating violence, extremism, and terrorism. The current circumstances are marked by an escalation against the Palestinian people, and the Committee warned that undermining the Palestinian Authority could jeopardize peace efforts, lead to increased violence, and prolong the ongoing conflict.
