Cairo: Egypt and Qatar announced they are continuing mediation efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which aims to end the war and ease the humanitarian suffering in the Palestinian enclave, while ensuring the protection of Palestinian civilians and the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
According to State Information Service Egypt, a joint statement released by the two countries indicated that progress has been made in the recent Hamas-Israel negotiations held over three weeks in Doha. They noted that the suspension of talks for consultations before resuming dialogue is a normal part of the process, given the complexity of these negotiations.
Both Egypt and Qatar urged the public not to be misled by reports from some media outlets that might undermine the mediation efforts and disrupt the negotiation process. They also called on international media to act responsibly and uphold journalistic ethics by focusing on the unprecedented suffering in Gaza rather than contributing to efforts that might undermine peace negotiations.
Furthermore, Egypt and Qatar emphasized their commitment to working with the US to secure a comprehensive ceasefire agreement in the Palestinian enclave, underlining their dedication to continuing these critical efforts.
