Egypt and Catholic Relief Services Dispatch First Gaza Aid Convoy Post-Ceasefire

Cairo: Egypt's Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, in coordination with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), dispatched a relief aid convoy to Gaza on Sunday, November 9, 2025, marking their 14th humanitarian mission to the enclave and the first since the recent ceasefire. The convoy includes 40 trucks loaded with hygiene supplies and personal care items sufficient for around 13,000 families, aiming to meet basic needs and support public health in the strip.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk stated that the 14 convoys dispatched by the ministry's general foreign aid committee in cooperation with the CRS since the war started in October 2023 delivered 1,630 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza. The aid was transported via 230 trucks and five aircraft, including tents, blankets, mattresses, mats, hygiene kits, and essential living supplies.

Farouk affirmed that the ministry will continue providing all forms of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people, ensuring that aid flows steadily to alleviate suffering. Meanwhile, the Egyptian Red Crescent on Sunday launched the 68th 'Zad Al-Izzah: From Egypt to Gaza' convoy, carrying tons of urgent humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The shipment includes around 280,000 food baskets, 185 tons of flour, more than 2,700 tons of essential medical and relief items, and over 1,200 tons of fuel.

The Zad Al-Izzah convoys, which began on July 27, have delivered thousands of tons of aid, including food, flour, infant milk, medicines, personal care items, and fuel. Humanitarian aid bound for Gaza has surged since a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel took effect on October 10. Under the agreement, 600 aid trucks must enter Gaza per day. However, only 4,453 of the planned 15,600 aid trucks (28%) have entered Gaza since the truce began, according to the Gaza government media office last week.
