Arab League, OIC, GCC Foreign Ministers Condemn Netanyahu’s Remarks on “Greater Israel”

Cairo: The Foreign Ministers of several countries, including Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, The Gambia, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Maldives, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen, along with the Secretary-Generals of the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, have expressed strong condemnation of statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the concept of 'Greater Israel.' These statements, circulated by Israeli media, are seen as a violation of international law and a threat to regional and international peace.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the foreign ministers emphasized their commitment to international legitimacy and the United Nations Charter, specifically Article 2, paragraph 4, which prohibits the use of force. They stated their intent to adopt policies that ensure peace and security for all states, rejecting any notions of domination or power imposition by force.

The ministers also condemned Israeli Minister Bezalel Smotrich's approval of a settlement plan in the 'E1' area and his statements against the establishment of a Palestinian state. They view these actions as violations of international law and an assault on the Palestinian people's right to an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. They stressed that Israel holds no sovereignty over the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The foreign ministers reaffirmed their rejection of the settlement plan and all illegal Israeli measures, citing Security Council Resolution 2334, which condemns Israeli settlement activities. They highlighted the International Court of Justice's advisory opinion against Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory and the need for its immediate cessation and reparations for damages caused.

They warned against Israeli intentions to annex Palestinian territory and the continued expansionist settlement policies in the Occupied West Bank. These actions, they noted, undermine efforts for peace and threaten regional and international security. They also condemned Israeli aggression, calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to Israel's blockade and aggression.

The ministers reiterated that the Gaza Strip is part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and called for the State of Palestine to assume governance responsibilities in Gaza, with international support. They urged the international community, especially the permanent members of the Security Council, to pressure Israel to halt its aggression in Gaza and the West Bank and to protect Palestinian rights.

In summary, the foreign ministers called for immediate international action to ensure the rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent state, and accountability for violations against them.
