Ambassador Presents Credentials to Turkey’s President Amid Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Istanbul: Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan praised the successful mediation efforts by Egypt and Turkey to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the significance of the peace summit held in Sharm El-Sheikh. He expressed Turkey's eagerness to participate in an international conference focused on Gaza's early recovery and reconstruction, scheduled to take place in Cairo in the latter half of November.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Erdogan's remarks were made during a meeting with newly-appointed Egyptian Ambassador to Turkey, Wael Badawi, who presented his credentials to the Turkish president. Badawi conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Erdogan on the occasion of Turkey's Republic Day.

The Turkish president requested that his regards and greetings be conveyed to President Sisi, emphasizing Turkey's commitment to enhancing cooperation with Egypt in various domains and boosting trade exchanges, especially as the two countries commemorate the 100th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.

In response, Ambassador Badawi highlighted Egypt's interest in deepening cooperation with Turkey in multiple fields. He mentioned that preparations are underway for a meeting of the Joint Planning Group, which will be co-chaired by the Egyptian and Turkish foreign ministers. This meeting is part of the arrangements for Erdogan's planned visit to Egypt to participate in the High-Level Strategic Council meeting next year.

Badawi also invited Erdogan to the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) on November 1, expressing Egypt's hope for his attendance.
