Al Azhar warns against misuse of support provided to Muslim countries most in need

Al-Azhar has firmly warned against the misuse of support provided to Muslim countries most in need to obliterate their Islamic identity.

In a statement on Thursday, Al Azhar said it is following up efforts made by international institutions and civil society organizations in supporting the Muslim-majority countries most in need.

The aim of this support should focus on securing livelihoods and raising the level of education and health systems in these countries, along with promoting human, women’s and children’s rights, and providing real opportunities for development of these societies, according to the statement.

Al-Azhar also urged all parties to respect the Islamic law (Sharia) and to stop misdirecting the support provided to Muslim societies to change their religious identity and to constitute direct or indirect violation of Islamic sanctities.
