Int’l conference of Azhar University kicks off

The third scientific international conference of the Faculty of Sharia and Law of Al-Azhar University was launched here on Saturday 06/05/2023 to tackle the legal care offered to people with special needs as part of Egypt Vision 2030.

The two-day conference is held under the sponsorship of Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb.

The event witnessed the screening of a video of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi highlighting Egypt’s latest “Differently-Abled” celebration in which the president asserted the importance of sponsoring disabled persons and meeting all their needs.

The inaugural session was attended by Minister of Social Solidarity Nivine Kabbag and a galaxy of senior officials.

IDSC launches 5th session of “Knowledge” meetings

The fifth session of the “Knowledge” meetings, which are co-organized by the Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) and the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO), is due to kick off on Sunday 07/05/2023.

The fifth meeting, running between May 7-8, will shed light on transition to smart governments, according to a statement issued by the IDSC on Saturday 06/05/2023.

The significance of the event comes in light of consecutive challenges posed by crises, prompting the acceleration toward transformation into smart governments, the statement added.

The acceleration toward conversion to smart governments has contributed to boosting global interest in adopting smart applications, leading to a raise by dlrs 21.9 billion in the market of smart government applications in the year 2021.

The global smart government market size is expected to reach dlrs 124.7 billion in the year 2031, with an estimated compound growth rate of 19.4 percent during the period between (2031-2022), according to estimates by Allied Market Research.

GAH chief lauds WB’s efforts to expand universal health coverage in Egypt

Chairman of the General Authority of Healthcare (GAH) Ahmed El-Sobky reviewed with a high-level delegation from the World Bank cooperation opportunities to support the implementation of an exemplary model of public private partnership in the national healthcare industry.

During a meeting with the WB representatives at the authority’s premises on Saturday 06/05/2023, Sobky, who is also general supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance System (UHIS), applauded the success of the bank’s joint supportive mission to expand the universal health coverage in Egypt, while improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare outputs.

There are three strategic goals the GAH is trying to achieve over the period ahead, Sobky said, noting that these goals could be summed up in the constant improvement and development of the UHIS to reach the optimal world-class level, speeding up the system implementation throughout the State’s governorates, and embracing the value-based health care concept.

Applauding the authority’s fruitful cooperation with the WB to support the success of universal health coverage in Egypt, Sobky listened to the delegation’s views on the status of the national healthcare system.

Meanwhile, the delegation members said they are looking forward to their coming visit to GAH’s affiliated facilities in South Sinai, especially Sharm El Sheikh International Hospital, Egypt’s first green hospital accredited by the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) and the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) network.

National Dialogue comm. to hold extensive sessions next few weeks to set solutions to investment challenges

The National Dialogue’s committee on public investment priorities is expected to hold extensive sessions over the few coming weeks to discuss all investment challenges and agree on a set of recommendations and proposals, Assistant Rapporteur of the committee Mahmoud Samy told MENA on Saturday 06/05/2023.

Taking up one year now, arrangements for this part of the Dialogue focused on many themes related to the public investment track, Samy said, noting that the committee had already received a large number of proposals and agreed on the related topics and speakers.

He added that the government had been studying these proposals to come up with rapid solutions to the country’s most pressing economic problems.

The committee’s sessions will also address the State’s role in stimulating investments, especially in the private sector, as well as its role in the public investments that benefit the private sector in the education, healthcare, telecommunications, and infrastructure domains, among others, Samy said.

The committee will also discuss the active role played by the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) to support public-private partnerships, he pointed out.

The opening session of the National Dialogue kicked off Wednesday at the International Convention & Exhibition Centre in Nasr City, Cairo, with heavy participation from representatives of all segments of the Egyptian society, as well as NGOs, media figures, university presidents, heads of think tanks, members of the two chambers of the parliament, and clergymen, among others.

In his pre-recorded speech for the session, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi urged all participants to do their best to ensure a successful national dialogue.

During the annual Egyptian Family Iftar banquet on 26 April, 2022, President Sisi called for the dialogue that he would include all of the country’s political forces, without exception or discrimination.

In September 2022, the 19-member board of trustees completed its selection of rapporteurs and assistant rapporteurs for the dialogue’s three main tracks (political, economic, and social) and their 19 subcommittees.

Recommendations that will be made by the subcommittees will be referred to the board to be sent to the president for a final say, according to previous remarks by the General Coordinator of the National Dialogue Diaa Rashwan.

The President has asserted that all intellectuals, syndicates and political forces are invited to the dialogue, while assuring that only one faction is exempted from it, in reference to the Muslim Brotherhood group.

Minister: Egypt ranks 1st in Africa in scientific research by SCImago

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour on Saturday 06/05/2023 said Egypt’s scientific research centers and bodies have achieved remarkable progress in the international publication, in light of the latest report published by SCImago Journal Rank for the year 2022.

Egypt has been ranked 24th globally among 233 countries, with 44,219 international researches and ranked 388th according to H-index, Minister Ashour said in a statement.

The number of scientific citations has recorded 42,493, minister Ashour said, pointing out to the advancement achieved by Egypt compared by the year 2021, when it was ranked 26th as regards published scientific documents.

Egypt has accounted for 1.13 percent of the international published documents, the minister noted.

For the third consecutive time, since the year 2020, Egypt has been ranked the first in Africa surpassing 58 African countries, followed by South Africa which has been ranked the 2nd and Nigeria in the 3rd place, Ashour said.

He added that Egypt’s scientific publishing represents 27 percent of the total published documents in Africa.

Manpower Minister: National strategy for employment to be swiftly finalized under Sisi directives

Manpower Minister Hassan Shehata underlined that the national strategy for employment will be swiftly finalized under directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in order to draw up the policies document of labor market and offering services and labor incentives in addition to securing true information.

He said the ministry is working with social partners to conclude the strategy and come up with a national service and informative document going in line with the labor market needs of the new republic.

Shehata made the remarks during a meeting of the committee entitled with preparing the national strategy for employment.

Meanwhile, the strategy’s adviser and former administrative development minister Ahmed Darwish said the strategy is based on several axes, topped by confronting the challenges of the demographic structure in Egypt.

Darwish said the third goal of Egypt Vision 2030 aims to create a strong, competitive and diversified economy through increasing employment rates, securing decent jobs, promoting the culture of entrepreneurship, green economy and digital transformation in addition to merging the informal economy into the formal one.

Armed Forces says directions issued to facilitate conscription procedures

The General Command of the Armed Forces has issued directives to all units to provide all means of support and facilities nationwide, particularly the border governorates, to facilitate conscription procedures, Director of the Armed Forces Mobilization and Deploying Unit Brigadier General Mohamed Sobhy told MENA Friday.

The Armed Forces attaches great importance to the people of the border governorates and do not hesitate to provide them with all aspects of support in recognition of their significant national role, he added.

MENA has accompanied the Unit’s recruitment and judicial committees to Matrouh, North Sinai, South Sinai, Halayeb, and Shalateen to settle the recruitment situation of citizens residing in those governorates.

Recruitment committees are formed annually and all services provided in the border governorates are free of charge, Sobhy said.

Similar committees are created for residents abroad to help them stabilize their situation in the countries in which they are stationed, he added.

Additional facilities are provided for people of determination, Sobhy told MENA.

Recruitment committees are outfitted with cutting-edge technology that enables the quick issuance of certificates, provided all necessary documents are submitted, he added.

Many facilities for young people are presently being researched, with the goal of establishing a protocol of collaboration with the Egyptian Post to send requests to citizens at their homes, Sobhy said.

UAE Cybersecurity Council warns public and private sectors against cyber attacks

The Council stressed the importance of confronting various cyber attacks by vital sectors, in addition to activating protection systems and cyber security policies and raising the awareness of the authorities about any suspicious electronic activities that may harm their systems.
