Bybit Receives In-Principle Approval to Operate in Kazakhstan

ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN – Media OutReach – 29 May 2023 – Bybit, the world’s third most visited crypto exchange, has received in-principle approval by Kazakhstan’s Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA). This latest approval highlights Bybit’s continued commitment to expanding its presence in emerging and dynamic markets.

The in-principle approval subjects Bybit to pre-conditions leading to permanent authorization upon Bybit’s completion of the full application process. With this approval, Bybit will be allowed to operate a Digital Asset Trading Facility and provide Custody Services at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan is a gateway to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), a fast-growing market that is rapidly embracing cryptocurrencies. Qatar Airways increases flights to Amman as of next week

The official website of Qatar Airways announced Qatar’s national carrier is scheduled to increase the number of its daily flights from Doha to Amman to 35 weekly trips. The decision will start next week, at a rate ranging from 4 to 6 daily flights, compared to about 25 trips per week during the last period, the website revealed. This increase in daily flights from Doha to Amman aims to meet the increasing demand for travel onboard Qatar Airways during the summer holidays, as most Jordanian community in Qatar travel to Jordan to spend their annual vacations, the post noted. The Jordanian community currently living in Qatar stands at about 70,000, working in the Gulf country’s various sectors. During 2022, Qatar Airways carried more than 18.5 million passengers across 150 destinations within its global network, its statement issued on Monday said.

Settlers attack town of Burqa, set palm trees on fire

Israeli settlers attacked the town of Burqa, northwest of Nablus, and set palm trees on fire, according to Ghassan Daghlas, a local official. He told WAFA that settlers crept into the town from the illegal Homesh settlement outpost and set palm trees planted in the town cemetery on fire. Residents confronted the settlers and forced them to leave the area as they worked to put off the fire. Daghlas said that ever since the settlers have been allowed to return to Homesh, which was evacuated in 2005, attacks on the town have intensified and become almost daily. A delegation of European diplomats recently visited Burqa to learn firsthand about the impact of the settlers’ return to Homesh on life in the Palestinian town. The United States and European countries have strongly objected to the return of settlers to Homesh, considering all settlements illegal under international law.

General Intelligence Service foils attempt to leak Palestinian lands to Israeli settlers

The General Intelligence Service (GIS) in Bethlehem Governorate managed to thwart a deal to leak Palestinian lands to Israeli settlers. A security source in the GIS said that, based on intelligence information about an attempt to leak lands in the Bethlehem governorate to settlers, four people suspected of planning to carry out this deal were arrested thus bringing a halt to this deal and thwarting a plan to leak hundreds of dunums of land for the benefit of settlers. The detainees and their case file were referred to the Public Prosecution Office to complete legal procedures against them in accordance with the law, said the source, who explained that the deal involved 600 dunums of land in the village of Nahalin that are located near the illegal settlements of Bitar Elite and Daniel. The General Intelligence Service urged people to exercise caution in any land sale and to make sure that all procedures are taken in accordance with the law, especially in occupied Jerusalem, border areas, and areas near settlements.

RUSSIA HITS MILITARY FACILITY IN WEST UKRAINE, DAMAGING PLANES

A Russian strike hit a military facility in western Ukraine, damaging five planes, while Kyiv repelled another large volley of overnight air strikes, authorities said Monday. Valery Zaluzhny, commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s armed forces, said on social media that a total of “up to 40 missiles” and “around 35 drones” had been launched, of which 37 and 29 were downed. There were no casualties. “Only 18 hours after the most massive UAV attack on Kyiv, the enemy attacked the capital again,” the Kyiv administration said. “This is the 15th air attack since the beginning of May!” The new barrage hit the pro-Western country as the Ukrainian capital was recovering from an overnight Saturday drone attack, the biggest since Russia’s invasion began in February last year. In the western city of Khmelnytsky regional authorities said Russian troops attacked a military facility overnight. In a rare admission of the damage, they said “five aircraft have been put out of action.” Work was underway to localise fires at fuel and lubricant warehouses, the statement said.

Rainfall pours 30 million cubic meters into dams in 24 hours

The recent downpour has channeled Jordan’s dams with 30 million cubic meters (mcm) during the past 24 hours, raising the total storage in dams to 132.8 mcm (47.33 percent) out of their total capacity of 280.7 mcm, according to the Ministry of Water and Irrigation. A statement released Monday by the ministry said precipitation rose to 125.3 percent from Jordan’s long-term annual average of 8.1 billion cubic meters, constituting 158.9 percent of the total rainfall last year. The southern Aqaba governorate experienced the highest precipitation of 59.2 millimeters in the last 24 hours, it added.

Jordan, Romania discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation
