GAH chief lauds WB’s efforts to expand universal health coverage in Egypt

Chairman of the General Authority of Healthcare (GAH) Ahmed El-Sobky reviewed with a high-level delegation from the World Bank cooperation opportunities to support the implementation of an exemplary model of public private partnership in the national healthcare industry.

During a meeting with the WB representatives at the authority’s premises on Saturday 06/05/2023, Sobky, who is also general supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance System (UHIS), applauded the success of the bank’s joint supportive mission to expand the universal health coverage in Egypt, while improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare outputs.

There are three strategic goals the GAH is trying to achieve over the period ahead, Sobky said, noting that these goals could be summed up in the constant improvement and development of the UHIS to reach the optimal world-class level, speeding up the system implementation throughout the State’s governorates, and embracing the value-based health care concept.

Applauding the authority’s fruitful cooperation with the WB to support the success of universal health coverage in Egypt, Sobky listened to the delegation’s views on the status of the national healthcare system.

Meanwhile, the delegation members said they are looking forward to their coming visit to GAH’s affiliated facilities in South Sinai, especially Sharm El Sheikh International Hospital, Egypt’s first green hospital accredited by the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) and the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) network.
