Egypt’s Mufti flies to Algeria to attend civilized behavior conference

Egypt’s Mufti Shawqi Allam on Friday traveled to Algeria to attend a conference on civilized behavior.

The 3-day event is organized by the Algerian High Islamic Council (HCI) under the auspices of Algerian president Abdelmadjid Tebboune in Oran.

A host of scholars, academicians and experts from more than 40 countries are set to partake at the conference to discuss issues related to behavior and Islamic values, among others.

Moderate quake jolts near Suez

A moderate earthquake measuring 4.1 on Richter scale hit 27 kilometers north of Suez early Friday, according to the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG).

No casualties or damage were reported, head of the institute Gad el Qadi said in a statement.

The quake occurred at 12:25 am local time at depth of 10 km.

Egypt, Norway ink deal on green ammonia production

The Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM), Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO), and Norwegian company Scatec have signed an agreement on the production of green ammonia from green hydrogen.

Petroleum Minister Tarek El Molla said on Friday that the deal is part of the government’s commitment to enforcing international treaties and agreements on climate change.

The minister added that the agreement matches his ministry’s strategy on cutting bad emissions to change Egypt into a regional hub for energy.

Egypt partakes at G20 Finance Ministers meetings in India

Finance Minister Mohamed Maait is set to represent Egypt at the G20 Finance Ministers meetings, held on Feb. 24-25 in India.

The Finance Ministry said in a statement on Friday that Maait is set to present Egypt’s vision on handling current global economic challenges and unprecedented crises.

Maait will also shed light on several development projects carried out by the government under its Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS): Egypt Vision 2030.

The meetings are set to be attended by representatives of major global financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the United Nations, and the European Union, among others.

Damietta Port handles 30 container, cargo ships

As many as 30 container ships and cargo vessels were handled at the Damietta Port in the past 24 hours.

In a statement released on Friday, the Damietta Port Authority’s (DPA) media center said the total trade volume of exported goods handled at the port reached 37,203 tons.

Meanwhile, the total trade volume of imported goods into the port recorded 29,750 tons, according to the statement.

Wheat reserves at public sector warehouses registered 32,161 tons, while private sector warehouses registered 169,267 tons.

Trade minister leads Egypt’s delegation to higher committee of industrial partnership meeting in Amman

Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir will lead Egypt’s delegation to the third meeting of the Higher Committee of the Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development that groups Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Bahrain.

The committee’s meetings will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Under the partnership, the member states will collaborate to grow their respective industrial sectors by integrating resources and industries and leveraging competitive advantages.

The countries will also work together to reduce costs, enhance supply chains, create job opportunities, contribute to economic development, promote self-sufficiency, and boost industrial competitiveness.

Various agreements will be signed between industrial companies from Egypt, the UAE, Jordan and Bahrain.

The meetings of the Supreme Committee will be preceded by the meetings of the Executive Committee, on Saturday, with the participation of chairmen and members of the committee from the four countries, in addition to representatives of industrial companies from the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain.

The Executive Committee will prepare a report for presentation to the Supreme Committee on the partnership’s latest achievements and proposals to empower the industrial sectors of each partner country.

The integrated industrial partnership for sustainable economic growth was launched in Abu Dhabi in May 2022 between Egypt, the UAE and Jordan, with Bahrain joining during the partnership’s second meeting in Cairo in July.

It aims at achieving the five strategic goals; developing world-class competitive industries, achieving safe and flexible supply chains, stimulating growth based on sustainability, supporting the growth and integration of value chains and promoting value-added manufacturing sectors.

Emigration Ministry launches second phase of Speak Arabic presidential initiative

The Ministry of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs launched on Friday the second phase of the “Speak Arabic” presidential initiative.

The phase, titled “Our Egyptian roots” is meant to raise people’s awareness of their identity and great history.

On this occasion, the emigration ministry has organized a meeting of Egyptologist Wassim El Sisi, in the presence of Emigration Minister Soha Gendi and a number of students from the European International School in Cairo.

The Egyptologist gave a lecture on the ancient Egyptian civilization, especially its excellence in medicine, medical sciences, diagnosis and complex surgery.

The emigration minister said the meeting comes in light of launching a new phase of the “Speak Arabic” presidential initiative, commending Wassim El Sisi’s efforts to revive Egypt’s civilization heritage.
