Assad thanks Egypt for hosting Syrian refugees

Syrian President Bashar al Assad has greatly appreciated Egypt for hosting Syrian refugees on its lands.

“President Bashar al Asad thanks Egypt and its great people for hosting Syrian refugees … and treating them as brethren,” said spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid in a tweet Monday.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, who is currently in Syria, earlier met with President Assad to convey a message of solidarity with the Syrian people in the wake of the devastating earthquake that hit their country on February 6.

Assad appreciates Sisi telephone call after quake

Syrian President Bashar al Assad has greatly appreciated President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s telephone call after the earthquake that hit Syria on February 6.

Assad was speaking during a meeting with visiting Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry earlier Monday, according to spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid.

Shoukry arrived in Damascus Monday morning on a visit meant to show solidarity with the Syrian people in the wake of the destructive earthquake that hit their country earlier this month.

Official welcome ceremony held for Egyptian premier at Qatar

An official welcome ceremony was held on Monday for Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli at the Qatari Emiri Diwan where Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khaled bin Khalifa Al Thani received him.

The national anthems of Egypt and Qatar were played and the two premiers reviewed the the guard of honor.

Official delegations from both sides were attending ahead of launching the first day of the Egyptian premier’s official visit to Qatar.

The Qatari delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdel Rahman Al Thani, Finance Minister Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Trade and Industry Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Public Health Hanan Al Kuwari and Qatari Ambassador in Cairo Salem Mubarak Al Shafi.

The Egyptian delegation grouped Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghafar, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El Saeed, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir, Egyptian Ambassador in Doha Amr El Sherbini and Head of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Hossam Heiba and Head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Walid Gamal.

Madbouli arrived in Doha on Sunday night embarking on an official visit to Qatar which comes upon an invitation from his Qatari opposite number.

The visit comes as part of the two countries’ keenness on bolstering bilateral ties in the various fields of common interest. The two sides are expected to hold an expanded session of talks and sign a number of documents and memos of understanding.

Also, the Egyptian delegation will meet with representatives of the Qatari businessmen league, the Qatari chambers of commerce and trade for talks on increasing Qatari investments in Egypt as well as doubling the volume of trade exchange.

Shoukry, his Turkish counterpart receive sixth Egyptian relif shipment

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu received on Monday at the Turkish Port of Mersin the sixth shipment of relief aid dispatched by Egypt to help people affected by the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey recently.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid expressed Egypt’s solidarity with the Turkish people in the aftermath of the earthquake.

Shoukry and Cavusoglu on Monday held bilateral session of talks in the Turkish city of Adana, said Abu Zeid said on Twitter.

Shoukry embarked on a tour of Syria and Turkey with the aim of conveying Egypt’s solidarity message with both countries which were hit by the devastating quake.

Egypt, Turkey FMs tour by helicopter of earthquake zone

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu took a helicopter tour Monday of one of the areas that were worst hit by the February 6 earthquake in Turkey.

This was announced by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on his Twitter account.

Shoukry paid a visit to Turkey Monday, where he was received by his Turkish counterpart in the airport, before they headed to the Turkish Port of Mersin to receive the sixth shipment of humanitarian relief aid dispatched by Egypt to help people affected by the devastating earthquake.

Qatari emir boosting economic ties with Egypt

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani asserted Monday his country’s keenness on boosting economic relations with Egypt and upping the volume of Qatari investments in it.

The Egyptian economy has been running very good and smoothly over the past years and Egypt has achieved a rapid and tangible progress in several sectors, but Covid-19 and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis have taken their toll on Egypt like other world countries, added the Qatari emir while receiving Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Monday.

Sheikh Tamim hailed development and positive momentum in bilateral ties binding Egypt and Qatar, saying the Egyptian state has great potentials despite world crises and it is important to maintain development plans and efforts.

For his part, Madbouli reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to encourage local and foreign investments and promote the role of the private sector, in addition to several investment opportunities in the country.

Phosphate Misr inks $400 mln business contracts with UAE

Misr Company, an affiliate to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, signed Sunday some business contracts with the UAE government to build various types of chemicals factories at an approximate cost of $400 million.

The inking ceremony took place in Jordan, following expanded meetings of the executive committee of an integrated industrial partnership between Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan, and the UAE for sustainable economic development.

The deals were signed in light of the company’s recent achievements as a well-reputed global supplier of phosphate ore, Chairman of the Phosphate Misr Company Mohamed Abdel Azim said in a statement released by the company.

The four-party partnership aims to expand the company’s phosphate production line, with a view to bringing about a breakthrough in phosphate production and carry out value-added projects, which will shore up national economy and contribute to the country’s foreign exchange reserve.
