WB ready for increasing support to Egypt’s housing projects

The World Bank (WB) on Monday hailed the Egyptian government efforts to carry out social housing projects which offer modern housing units for people with limited incomes.

This came during a meeting between Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar and a WB delegation, currently on an official visit to Egypt.

The WB delegation expressed readiness for strongly taking part in Egypt’s ambitious social housing program, which is considered one of the most successful projects, funded by the bank worldwide.

The two sides followed up progress to date in the WB-funded social housing projects.

Gazzar said that Egypt, under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, has been paying greater attention to offering appropriate housing units for the youth and low-income people.

He pointed out that his ministry implements “Housing for All Egyptians” presidential initiative, which aims to provide all citizens affordable units in proportion to their incomes.
