Sports Minister opens African Artistic Gymnastics Championship

Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi has inaugurated the 2022 African Artistic Gymnastics Championship for seniors and juniors that runs from July 7 to 11, in the main hall of Cairo International Stadium.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by President of the African Gymnastics Union and President of the Egyptian Gymnastics Federation Ehab Amin, member of the Executive Office of the International Gymnastics Federation Youssef el Tabbaa, and Chairwoman of the Technical Committee of Rhythmic Gymnastics and Member of the Executive Office of the International Gymnastics Federation Noha Abdel Wahab, as well as Vice President of the Egyptian Gymnastics Federation Ahmed Talaat, according to a statement released by the Youth and Sports Ministry on Friday.

In his speech, the sports minister spoke about the importance of this tournament for Egyptian gymnasts, as it qualifies for the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship, which in turn qualifies for the Paris 2024 Olympics, the statement added.

Around 95 male and female gymnast from Algeria, Cameroon, Tunisia, South Africa, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Morocco and hosts Egypt are taking part in the Championship, the statement concluded.
