Sisi and Pakistani Army Chief Discuss Strategies to Prevent Middle East Escalation

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi welcomed Pakistani Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir at the al Ittihadiya Presidential Palace, with the meeting also attended by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production Abdel Meguid Saqr, and Pakistani Ambassador Aamer Shaukat.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy reported that President Sisi expressed his appreciation for the progress in Egyptian-Pakistani relations, emphasizing Egypt's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. The collaboration aims to advance mutual interests and promote development in both nations.

The Pakistani army chief conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and lauded Egypt's role in fostering stability in the Middle East. He congratulated President Sisi on the successful Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit and praised Egypt's efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting also focused on enhancing regional peace and security in the Middle East and South Asia. Both leaders emphasized the need for increased consultations between Egypt and Pakistan to prevent escalation and address shared challenges. Discussions included potential cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism.
