Cairo: Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal (SCZone), welcomed a high-level Chinese trade delegation at the Authority's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the delegation was led by Mr. Li Xin, Vice President of the China National Garment Association (CNGA), and consisted of 15 representatives from major textile and garment companies across China, including cities such as Qingdao, Ningbo, Yiwu, Xiamen, and Shanghai. This visit is part of ongoing collaboration between the Egyptian Commercial Representation Authority and SCZone to attract foreign direct investments, with several executive leaders from the Authority in attendance.
During the meeting, Mr. Gamal El-Din outlined the investment environment in the industrial zones of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, emphasizing its competitive advantages for foreign investors. He highlighted the textile sector as a priority due to its role in industrial integration and local manufacturing, from initial processing to the final product. He also spoke about the success of a recent promotional tour in China, which has bolstered confidence in Egypt's investment climate and opened doors for industrial partnerships.
Mr. Gamal El-Din announced that areas in Al-Qantara West have been designated to strengthen the textile sector, which currently hosts 21 Chinese projects. This initiative aims to establish the region as a key industrial hub. Additionally, the industrial zone in Sokhna has attracted 18 companies in the same sector, benefiting from advanced infrastructure, investment incentives, and competitive energy and labor costs.
Mr. Li Xin expressed his satisfaction with the visit and the opportunity to explore investment prospects in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. He acknowledged the trust and recognition the zone holds among Chinese investors, praising the one-stop service and indicating a growing interest from Chinese textile companies to expand in Egypt.
The visit is a continuation of the fruitful promotional tour recently conducted by the Authority in China, highlighting the potential for enhanced economic ties between the two nations.
