Doha: Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani emphasized the significance of the international conference for a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue, as it takes place during a critical phase marked by Israel's two-year military campaign in Gaza. This conflict has exacerbated a humanitarian crisis impacting over two million people, predominantly women and children.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Sheikh Mohammed delivered a statement at the conference's plenary session, highlighting that the gathering is focused on addressing one of the most enduring issues of international peace and security, which he described as a legacy of colonial injustice. He expressed gratitude towards Saudi Arabia for leading the conference in collaboration with France.
He further mentioned that Qatar, alongside Egypt and the United States, has been actively mediating to secure notable achievements. These include facilitating the delivery of substantial amounts of aid and negotiating the release of numerous prisoners and detainees from both sides involved in the conflict.
