President El-Sisi and EU High Representative Discuss Regional Security and Stability

Brussels: Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Ms. Kaja Kallas, at his residence in Brussels, Belgium. The meeting was attended by several key figures, including Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty, the EU Ambassador to Egypt, and senior officials from the European External Action Service.

According to State Information Service Egypt, President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union, emphasizing the significance of enhancing consultation and coordination, particularly in political and security fields, for the benefit of both the Middle East and the EU.

President El-Sisi highlighted the tensions in the Middle East and reiterated Egypt's commitment to a balanced policy aimed at consolidating security and stability. He pointed out that Egypt's efforts have prevented illegal migration, with no boats leaving since September 2016, while hosting around 10 million foreigners fleeing crisis-stricken countries. He stressed that stability in these countries is crucial for addressing migration issues.

The President reviewed Egypt's initiatives to resolve regional crises and emphasized the importance of respecting sovereignty and preventing foreign interference. He mentioned Egypt's role in the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement to end the war in Gaza and expressed a desire to enhance cooperation with the EU in implementing the agreement and US President Trump's plan. He announced plans for a conference in November 2025 on Gaza's reconstruction and recovery.

Ms. Kallas expressed her pleasure in meeting President El-Sisi and acknowledged Egypt's significant role in achieving ceasefire and stability in Gaza, Sudan, and other regions. She affirmed the EU's commitment to supporting Gaza's reconstruction and highlighted the EU's readiness to participate actively in the implementation of US President Trump's plan.

Ms. Kallas stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire in Gaza and resolving crises in Sudan and Libya to ensure their unity and sovereignty. She also emphasized the need to end the war in Ukraine and uphold international law.

Regarding illegal migration, Ms. Kallas commended Egypt's efforts and affirmed the EU's support for stability and development in migration-supporting countries. The meeting also addressed water security and other regional security issues, with both parties underscoring the importance of respecting international law and state sovereignty.
