PM witnesses signing ceremony of two pacts in electricity, renewable energy sector

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli witnessed Wednesday the signing ceremony of two agreements to provide consulting services in the sector of electricity and new and renewable energy.

The agreements were inked between the Egyptian Electricity Transmission (EETC) and Belgian’s Elia Grid International, in the presence of Electricity and Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker.

Following the signing ceremony, the electricity minister said that the first agreement includes reviewing the dynamic review of the unified electricity network, in light of the mega expansions made in the network over the past eight years.

The agreement also includes preparations for the future electricity linkage projects with the neighboring countries and the European Continent, added the minister.

The second agreement is related to providing consulting services related to reviewing the needs of the unified network to cope with the renewable energy related to the green hydrogen projects.

The signing of the two agreements, along with 23 local and international consortiums, comes in line with Egypt’s main goal to reach 42 percent of the contribution of renewable energy in the nation’s energy mix by 2035, said the minister.
