PM Witnesses Major Deal to Launch 50 New Hotels

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, attended the signing ceremony of a strategic partnership agreement between Sunrise Resorts and Cruises and Thailand-based Minor International, one of the world's largest hospitality groups and owner of the 'Anantara' brand. Under the agreement, the two sides will roll out an ambitious expansion plan to open and manage 50 new hotels across Egypt.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly emphasized that tourism investment remains a top national priority, highlighting the government's efforts to boost hotel room capacity through strong collaboration with both local and global private-sector players. The partnership also includes Madaar Development, with an initial launch of four flagship hotels within Madaar's projects in Ras El Hekma, New Zayed, and Ain Sokhna.

Minor International operates a portfolio of more than 640 hotels in 59 countries with over 80,000 rooms and 3,000 restaurants under 50 leading brands worldwide. Sunrise, one of Egypt's leading luxury hospitality brands, runs over 25 hotels and resorts in prime destinations such as Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, and Ain Sokhna, along with seven Nile cruise ships, while also expanding into Greece, Morocco, and Zanzibar. Through Madaar, its real estate arm, the group manages major projects spanning over 1,000 feddans and 5,000 units.
