PM: Sisi urged taking advanced well-integrated approach toward Sinai development

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has issued well-defined instructions for the government to adopt an advanced well-integrated approach toward the development of the Sinai Peninsula, taking into account the uniqueness of this treasured part of the nation, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Saturday 14/01/2023.

Madbouli made the remarks during a large-scale inspection tour to follow up on the progress of some development and service projects in North Sinai, accompanied by North Sinai Governor Mohamed Abdel Fadil Shosha, head of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Walid Gamal Eddin, and a host of senior officials and executives from the governorate.

The premier initiated his tour by making a stop at the site of the New Rafah City Project, which will take up over 535 feddans along Arish-Rafah International Road, about 45 km from El Arish. The city is expected to house 626 blocks offering a total of 10,016 housing units, 1,344 of which are complete, as part of the project’s 1st phase that includes 272 blocks.

The new city will also have two service areas, two police stations, a fire station, a post office, a telecommunications center, a bakery, a mall, an elementary school, two nurseries, and a mosque.

Internal work at the accomplished housing units as well as service buildings is complete by 98 per cent.

The project is carried out by the Armed Forces’ Military Engineering Department.

Meanwhile, Shosha said El Arish city is undergoing a remarkable change after it had become a stable and safe region again thanks to the strenuous efforts of army and police forces to purge the area of terrorist groups.

The commander of the 2nd Field Army and the ministers of electricity, supply and internal trade, justice, health and population, housing, local development, and higher education and scientific research are accompanying the premier during his tour.
